L-O-V-E

I LOVE (!) this bedding set!
Since the Gingerbread House is so *cozy*, the baby is going to be rooming with us for....well...EVER, I guess. I think this set is really cute and chic. However, it's $300 so I'll be recreating it. Pictures coming soon!
So what do you all think? Is it too girlie if it's a boy?

The New Improved Gingerbread House

So I have these big plans for sprucing up the Gingerbread house. It's going to be a few months before they are all complete though.

I never actually got around to painting my bedroom last fall when i wanted to. But I did get new bedding and at the moment I'm in the process of scraping the border off the walls. It's going from a dark green to a yellowish golden color (I think).

I am also planning to redecorate the boys' room. Which requires wallpapering, but at least it's tiny. My dad is building the boys custom made captains beds (the kind with the drawers built underneath). So that we can maximize every inch of their room.

And that should take me all of the spring and most of the summer to complete. Oh and have I mentioned, there are 2 weddings, 2 graduations, 2 camping trips, and a baby all happening this summer? :-) Yah! These should take care of all the nesting urges, right?

Request

Me- "So guys, what color room do you want to have?"

Gaius- "Pink!!!"

Xavier "Lightening yellow, and lime green!"

**Asking their opinion may have been a mistake.***

Pregnancy Superpowers part deux

Nail and hair growth- Whoa momma! I'm not sure if it's the vitamins or the hormones or a combo of both. But at the rate my hair is going I'll put Rapunzel to shame by the time August comes around. Unfortunately it's stringy, straight, dry hair. But I guess I'll take what I can get. My nails on the other hand are just nice and strong and growing like weeds!

Appetite- I've never been a really small eater. But lately Marc likes to pick on me and call me Esau because I'll make comments like "Wow! I think I might actually die if I don't eat something". And quite honestly I might consider selling my birthright for a really good meal prepared by someone else! :-) j/k.

Nesting- also known as suddenly having a burst of energy and drive to clean and organize things you haven't thought about in months. It's really quite amazing! When I was pregnant for Gaius I carried a dresser down the stairs by myself, Marc wasn't too happy about it. But in my defense, I really just took out all the drawers and *slid* it down the stairs. It wasn't like I hefted it over my head or anything. :-) (not much better, huh?). So far I haven't done anything too nutty this time around, but there's still lots of time left for all that foolishness. Oh and by the way, I'm not the only pregnant woman that has preformed Herculean type feats. I've heard stories.

Update

Well Braeden Michael Zajac is here. I don't know much except that he was born at 11:59 last night and he weighs 8 lbs 14 oz (which IS big, but not "off the charts", which leads me to believe modern medicine really doesn't know all that much as far as child bearing goes, just sayin'). As far as I know he and mom are doing well.

Kids Comments

"Mom, make sure when you get home you tell us if the baby is healthy" -Xavier's comment right before I left for an OB appointment.

"He either has chickens or put too many eggs in his cart"- Leia's theories on where a man at church got the extra brown eggs he gave to us.

"Dear Lord, please allow us to be able to go to Disney World someday" - Xavier and Leia, every time they pray.

The Mama Files: Mama is...

...trying very hard not to throw a temper tantrum about her brand new laptop not working. Especially since she's been very careful with it!

I saw the baby today! I guess the placenta was between the baby and the Doppler so my OB couldn't find the heart beat. It looks like a real baby now and it's legs where kicking like crazy! Three weeks until the "big" sono. Which won't be so big since we won't be finding out the sex, but it'll still be fun to see *her* again!

I found a new consignment shop on my way home. I'm not really sure what I think of it. I found some great maternity stuff (a pair of really great jeans NWT for $12, and a Gap dress for $12) and a cute unisex sleeper. But the store smelled funny and it was pretty disorganized so it was really hard to look. But her prices were really cheap (she can't be making much money from things).

I'm trying The Baby Name Wizard (book) to find the "perfect" little girl's name. So far from all the name books I've read, which has been quite a few. They all agree that Marc's favorite girl's name is "so cute, blah, blah, blah". But I still can't get over my reservations about it. I was thinking about what my naming criteria is and it was surprisingly easy to come up with 12 stipulations (FYI the name I have for a boy doesn't fit into ALL of these, AND Marc's criteria isn't necessarily the same as mine).

1. Blends with my other kids' names
2. Fits with our last name
3. Not in the top 100 baby names in the US
4. Not too "out there"
5. Pretty/ Strong (pretty for a girl, strong for a boy)
6. Works for a child or adult
7. Starts with a different letter than my other kids
8. Has a nice meaning ( I guess that omits Jezebel) :-)
9. No common nicknames
10. No weird initials
11. Easy to pronounce (spelled phonetically)
12. No weird spellings

and that's it! See I'm not picky! :-) Please accept my apology if you're sick of hearing about baby names. I'm sick of it too!

The Hazards of Elastic

While raking and picking up sticks today in my yard. I felt something prickly in the leg (above the knee) of my pants. Upon further investigation I found a large, dried up, brittle twig. How it got in my pants is yet to be determined.

The End
I seem to be having phantom baby kicks to the ribs today (the baby isn't big enough or high enough for that yet).

If you think of it today and tomorrow please pray for my sister in law. She's almost 39 weeks pregnant and is getting induced tomorrow (if she doesn't go into labor today) because her baby is HUGE! They won't even give her a weight estimate because he's so big. Thanks. And YIKES!

Dear Viewers,

I guess it's either feast or famine with me. I either blog your eyes out, or completely ignore you for days. Sorry about that. Life sometimes gets in the way. Tons of stuff has been going on, but nothing really blog worthy. (But yet I'm going to blog about it anyway. Go figure!)
I went to a couple family bridal showers. Had some nice weather. Feel like I'm on the verge of finding the "perfect" little girl's name. Deep cleaned my bathroom. Have cravings for Chinese but still have a little will power and won't indulge because the calories are horrific. Is having second thoughts about not finding out the gender of the baby. Is loving the baby boy selection of clothes that is out there right now. Has a couple sewing projects that need to be finished. Is noticing that our youngest is a tiny version of my husband more and more everyday. Have no patience for the dog. Had an Amish horse, buggy, and man in my driveway when I got home one day. Love, love, love, reading fiction! Is the worst Twilight fan on earth (I buy used books, don't have time to go to the movies, rents movies dirt cheap from netflix, and critique and blow holes in the story lines when talking to my geeky sci-fi enthusiast husband about them), sorry Bella and Edward. Is amazed by my husband's teaching skills. Had a couple sister-in-laws over for a play date. Got a bunch of free clothes for my kids at our local thrift store (NWT Lands End Oxford for Xavier, super cute like new Gap shirt for Gaius). Wrangled 2 hyper 3 year olds, semi-successfully.

And that's my weekend in a nutshell.

P.S. Kudos to you if you made it through this whole entry!

A Three Year Old's State of Mind

Gaius-"Mommy, I want to marry you"

Me-"Sorry bud, but daddy already beat you to it"

Gaius-"He can marry your toes and I'll marry your fingers"

*hm...not sure how that would work.*

The Mama Files

It's haircut day! Whoohoo! I so neglect my poor hair. Well actually it's more I neglect my hair dresser, sorry Jill.

Voices from the Art Room

C- Aunt Korleen you don't even look pregnant

Me- Thanks C! You are now my favorite niece!

L- C! Don't say that! You basically just said that she just looks fat.

C- No! She doesn't look pregnant or fat.

Although it was slightly insulting, I still found it pretty funny. :-)

*Note to Renee: Let's see if you can guess who this conversation was between.

The Name Game part 2

Marc had a dream the other day that we had the baby and we didn't have a name so they wouldn't let us bring it home from the hospital until we did. :-) I don't actually know what our hospital's policy is on this, but I DO know they were ultra annoying about filling out and handing over the paperwork last time. In Marc's dream it was a boy so now he thinks it's a boy, but I still think it's a girl (please, please, please, be a girl!).Unfortunately, I don't think their is a girls' name out there that we'll agree on. I'm afraid we might have to swoop down into the Top 100 List to find a name we both like. Yikes! There's no way I'm going any lower than #50!

Sunday, March 14, 2010

I think we've decided on a boy's name!!! THINK is the keyword here. Get this; I actually came up with this one! And no I won't tell you what it is, sorry!

Gotta love secrets!

15 weeks!

I want to tell you a secret. 3D sonograms freak me out a little. I think that they are cool...for other people. But it's just too real for me to handle (chalk it up to watching too many sci-fi thriller movies). I'm not one of those ladies that adores being pregnant and the whole thought of growing something inside my body is a little too much for me. But, I am awed at God's perfect design and I love being a mom and having my very own babies. So as long as I keep myself from putting too much thought into it, I'm fine. :-) *bum, bum, bum* The More You Know! (do they still run those public announcement things? I haven't seen one in a long time.)

P.S. I must really be perfecting this whole applying blush/bronzer stuff, cause people keep accusing me of "glowing". :-)

Attention Please!

I would like to make it abundantly clear that Dr. Gaius Baltar is a creep and we DID NOT name our son after him!!!! Whew! Had to get that off my chest.

Update part 2

*Still loving my new computer! So far Windows 7 and I seem to be getting along splendidly! Funny story: yesterday I was sitting in my old spot where the desktop has always been (and still is for hopefully only a few more days). And I reached over to use the old mouse and got kind of annoyed when it wouldn't work. Then I realized, "duh! Wrong mouse". Okay so it was funnier at the time. Or maybe i'm just pregnant and find things funny that aren't.

*All my clothes have arrived! And now I have a 20% off coupon to the Gap sitting in my inbox, burning a hole in my pocket. But I have to do a lot of talking to convince myself it's worth it to pay $7 shipping for slow shipping.

*We've decided to have my BIL fix my van. Which may be a blessing or a curse depending on his speediness.

*Have I mentioned my kids are crazy and hilarious? Well they are! EVEN barn (rubber) boots can't keep at bay all the mud they've been getting into.

*My house still isn't where I was hoping it would be by now. Maybe tomorrow! :-)

* Seriously looking forward to Music and Dessert Night tonight at P.C.S.! It's going to be super great this year because I'm on sugar and carbs!!!

And that is all.

Update

It's here! It's here! It's finally here! My new notebook that is! :-) Man, 5 days felt like a long time (well actually just the last 2). Imagine what I'm going to be like on August 25th? Sorry in advance! ;-)

My largest shipment of clothes arrived yesterday!!!

My van is going into the shop tomorrow, so hopefully I'll have it back by early next week!

And that's about it.... Oh the house cleaning you ask? HAHAHAHA! If you could only see my livingroom at this very moment! It's full of box guts. Kind of resembles Christmas, only better cause all the boxes contained Mommy and Daddy toys!

Disclaimer:

Yikes! Sorry if you were unfortunate enough to check out my blog while I accidentally posted a questionable picture. I just deleted the whole entry (it wasn't that important anyway). So please accept my heart felt apology.

It's Unanimous

All 3 of our kids want us to name the baby ELVIS.

At this point I'm discouraged and think maybe our baby will just be named Baby. I've scoured websites, and books, TV shows and kindergarten classes, and nothing is "perfect". Oh well I still have lots of time...until i don't. I'm giving up for now.

Things I WANT to happen this week:

Some of these will and some may not.

1. My laptop to come in the mail Tuesday (PLEASE be Tuesday)

2. My van to be fixed (not sure if that's going to happen)

3. The 2's and 3's Wednesday night class to be super small and well behaved (ha! another doubtful)

4. All my new maternity clothes to arrive (I'm seriously running out of clothing options here).

5. All the snow to melt away (The forecast says 50 degrees on Friday!)

6. My house to be all spic n' span by next weekend. (which may not happen if above said computer comes on Tuesday) :-)

And that's all I want.... for this week.

Boing!

"HEY MOM!!! Can we go outside?!? There's grass all around the swings!"

My kids spent most of today riding bikes!!! How awesome is that?!?!!

LOVE IT!

Friday, March 5, 2010

Leia has informed us that "as along as the baby is a girl, [she] wouldn't mind if it was ugly. But if it's a boy it better be really cute."

Good to know.

1st Heartbeat!

"Mom, you should take my DSi and record the baby's heartbeat for us"~Xavier

wish I'd remembered to do this for Xavier.

P.S. I'm officially in the 2nd trimester, and my energy is returning. Oh sweet stamina I've missed you!

TML *Tuesday Morning Live* News update:

* A giant chunk of a tree fell on our house Thursday. It didn't damage anything (amazingly) but it did knock out the cable and drag the power line all the way to the ground (but didn't knock out the power, go figure).

*We found out we CAN survive without Internet and cable. Some of us better than others *cough* whiny *cough* Marc.

* I FINALLY made a trip to Joann Fabrics! And got all sorts of great stuff for myself and the 2 weddings I'm working on!

* I am about to get my very own laptop! Which is a double score because A. I won't have to share it with Marc and his crazy Linux program. B. We're getting rid of the desk top computer. Which means less clutter for the Gingerbread House (Holla!)!

* Lemon Berry smoothies are the new "IT" food (oh this baby has so got to be a girl, sugar and carbs all the way!)

*. Gaius would like me to mention that he got some new sneakers and underwear! Which happens to equal a whole new outfit for him! (I fear I'm raising Homer Simpson)

*Friday REALLY felt like spring! I dont' know what the actual temp was, but I was able to go outside with only a sweatshirt and not freeze!!!!

* HAD so much laundry to wash. Not anymore! :-)

* I sold all 9 of the auctions I had on ebay. The last one I think I may have possibly only broken even. And on 1 other I had a negative comment because "I didn't specify that a Tankini WAS a bathing suit" (Hello!?!). Oh well you live and learn.

* We won Full House seasons 3 and 4 on ebay!
